For many writers working in comics, having two things come out in one month is just another month but over here at DVP headquarters, it’s a bit unusual!
PRECIOUS METAL #4 - September 11th
First up is PRECIOUS METAL #4, wherein the curtain gets pulled back just a little on what Max has been experiencing and we begin to see some connective tissue to the world and story from LITTLE BIRD. It might also be our most action-packed issue so it includes some jaw-dropping pages from Ian Bertram and Matt Hollingsworth. And Hassan continues to astound with his lettering.
Covers for this issue are by Ian Bertram (A Cover) and James Harren (B Cover).
LOTUS LAND, No One Ever Says Goodbye - September 18th.
Next up is the collected edition of LOTUS LAND from myself (writer), Caio Filipe (artist), Patricio Delpeche (colours), Nate Piekos (letters), Tom Muller (design), Alex Eckman-Lawn (covers). Edited by Allyson Gronowitz and published by BOOM! Studios.
If you’ve been waiting to read this series in book form then the wait is nearly over. I think we managed to do something pretty interesting here, so if sci-fi crime noir is your thing, then make sure your local comic shop or bookstore is bringing in a copy for you!
If you don’t live near a comic shop or bookstore (I’m sorry), then I recommend ordering from bookstore.org by clicking here, which has a great price right now. Or Indigo here. Or Amazon here. Plenty of options!
Here’s the synopsis from the publisher;
Is entropy the end, or is there another way? The mysterious Keeper Program in a cyberpunk, decaying Vancouver of the near future has developed a highly advanced technology that calls this into question, playing god with the meaning of human life itself. But when an attack on the clandestine program occurs, former police detective Bennie Strikman comes out of retirement to take on one final, chilling case, and hopefully take those involved with the program out of harm's way. But the secrets of the Keeper Program grow deep, with the heart of everything directly connected to the chilling trail that Bennie follows. He won’t be the same after what he uncovers…
Eisner-winning and Harvey-nominated writer and director Darcy Van Poelgeest (Little Bird) is joined by rising star artist Caio Filipe (Stranger Things: Tales From Hawkins) for this timely and thought-provoking look into the human condition, set in a dystopia that’s as grounded as it is metaphysical. Collects Lotus Land #1-6. 160 pages.
OH! I almost forgot. I’ll be signing copies of LOTUS LAND at Golden Age Collectables on Sept 18th. Come on down to get your signed copy between 12-1 pm!
See you next month. Be kind to yourself - DVP.
Hoping to pop down to Golden Age to see you.
"Connective tissue" means more when it's describing Little Bird/Precious Metal.
