Vancouver FanExpo & future cons!
I had a wonderful time catching up with fellow writers, artists and fans at Vancouver Fan Expo over the last three days. I sold out of all my copies of LITTLE BIRD (thought I had more than enough this time), introduced a bunch of people to my current series LOTUS LAND, and had plenty of enthusiastic CRITICAL ROLE fans pop by to have me sign books or pick up a copy of The Bright Queen.
And if you asked for a PRECIOUS METAL update, then you probably walked away with a smile on your face!
I also met childhood hero Kevin Maguire and got him to sign my original copy of JL#1 which has been read so many times that he was probably a little hesitant to touch it. But he’s a professional and hid it well!
And I sat beside the legendary Tom Grummett and his lovely wife, Nancy, for whole show. We had a great time sharing stories of comics and living in the more rural parts of Canada. And of COURSE I brought in my copy of Animal Man #9 (Tom’s fill-in issue from series regular, Chas Truog) on the last day and had him sign that (sorry no picture).
For the last few years I’ve been sticking close to home, doing only local shows - partly because it’s expensive to travel but also because I’m very much a home body. I like my daily routine and prefer not to change it often.
However, this year I’ll be moving around bit more, so if you’re not in Vancouver and you’ve always wanted to say hello, or get a signed book, then keep your eyes on this space in the coming weeks!
LOTUS LAND 4 in stores tomorrow!
And another abundance of gorgeous covers including variants by Anand RK and Yejin Park!
As well as series regular Alex Eckman-Lawn who nails it with his character portraits every issue. You can circle back to his cover after reading this issue with a new understanding of what you’re looking at, and I love that.
“As he works to unravel the mystery of who attacked him and why, Bennie pays a visit to a club in Gastown where “The Twin” — a man with the power to induce hallucinations — plies his trade. But when Bennie’s interest in “the drowning girl” puts him on the bad side of a worse crowd, he finds himself in the clutches of an underworld power broker with a shocking agenda.”
Until next month! - DVP
That Justice League copy is definitely well loved! 😃
Was so happy to get mine signed by KM a few years back. He always has such great prints. I wish I had more wall!
