PRECIOUS METAL ANNOUNCMENT!
If you didn’t catch the news already - on Friday Image Comics announced the release date for PRECIOUS METAL #1, our years-in-making follow up series to LITTLE BIRD. Click the link below for the full press release!
BREAKOUT HIT LITTLE BIRD SEES PREQUEL SERIES DEBUT IN UPCOMING PRECIOUS METAL LAUNCH THIS JUNE.
The reception to this news has been overwhelming and we’re so excited to finally be here. I urge you to click the link to the press release above to get all the details but here’s the series synopsis:
Set 35 years before the events of Little Bird, Vol. 1: The Fight For Elder's Hope, Precious Metal follows disillusioned mod-tracker Max Weaver. When a routine hunt for a modified child takes a grisly and unexpected turn, he finds himself saddled with an unpredictable mod who may be the key to unlocking his missing memories. Soon Max will find that he isn’t the only one interested in the child’s unique abilities—and if he wants to know more, it’s going to cost him everything.
And here’s what I had to say about it:
"Precious Metal has been the biggest, and most fulfilling, undertaking of my creative career," said Van Poelgeest. "Returning to the world of Little Bird with Ian Bertram brought on a deeper collaboration than I thought possible, and the results are something transformative—for the work and myself. After nearly five years of immersion and experimentation, I’m thrilled to finally bring this monster of a book to readers world-wide." - DVP
I’ll have a lot more to say about the launch of PRECIOUS METAL over the next weeks and months but for now I just want to say thank you to everyone who has been supportive and encouraging over the years - I don’t think you realize how much it’s meant to me to have your support as we worked through this nearly 300 page epic. And I simply cannot heap on enough praise for Ian Bertram, Matt Hollingsworth, Ben Didier and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou and of course Image Comics. They’re the only reason this story exists, beyond my own imaginings.
If you’re excited to read PRECIOUS METAL then I cannot overstate how important it is to pick up the phone or shoot a message over to your local comic shop and ask them to order it on your behalf. Comics are having a bit of a tough go at the moment (as are most things, but particularly brick and mortar shops) - here’s your chance to support them and us. Take 2 minutes out of your day today and let them know, you want to read this series. Early ordering is the lifeblood of any comic series, and in return we promise to give you something strange and beautiful in this year of 2024!
Precious Metal #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, June 5.

LOTUS LAND 5 - IN STORES THIS WEEK!
The penultimate issue of LOTUS LAND is upon us! LOTUS LAND #5 (of 6) hits shops this week and I’m so excited for folks to get this one in their hands as the mysteries surrounding Bennie Strikman, Ethan, and the secrets behind Evermore’s Keeper Program begin to connect.
Artist Caio Filipe and colourist Patricio Delpeche absolutely kill in this issue, I can’t wait for people to see them at their absolute best as we close in on the story’s climax.
Here’s the synopsis for LOTUS LAND #5 with an another outstanding cover by Alex Eckman-Lawn featuring everyone’s favourite character, Detective Wickstrom. Followed by variant covers by Francesco Francavilla and Andrea Sorrentino.
“As the series approaches the highly anticipated conclusion, Tabitha and Ethan continue to struggle through their strained relationship. Meanwhile, Bennie and Wickstrom uncover more details in the drowning girl’s case, and through a more esoteric form of interrogation, Bennie, discovers some devastating answers concerning the missing children…”
And to wrap things up, and because I needed to hear this for myself this week, I’m sharing this clip of the ever enlightening Dr. Maya Angelou.
So exciting!!
Can’t wait! Hope we have a chance to connect more in the future! Would love to work with you on something someday again :)
